Response to A Tale of Two Campuses

Daniel Lum
Section 2
Week 4

Comparing the responses between Berkeley and Davis makes Berkeley seem much better to students and the general public but the differences are much deeper than this simple assumption. Looking at Davis' decision we can make a comparison to how the United States deals with the war on terror. If the United States appeases the terrorists then in the future, others may commit acts of terror to get what they want. In this situation, the Davis administrators are holding their ground and discouraging future protesters on campus. Berkeley is appeasing the Occupy students but they also have a long history of protests at their campus. I'd imagine that the Berkeley staff picks and chooses their fights with protesters.

Can there be a combination of the two that will allow the general public to express their opinions without being disruptive to normal campus activities?
