Why Ferguson Matters to Asian Americans

Arisa Gagarin
Section A01
Week 2

I have to agree with Jung’s article that Ferguson matters to Asian Americans, but not because we are also a minority, but because Ferguson should matter to all people, regardless of race. Anyone that values human life and national security should be  upset if a fellow citizen was unlawfully killed. I feel like we all owe each other solidarity in the face of a tragedy like Ferguson. Moreover, perhaps the issues circulating around Ferguson does not have to be about race, but about abuse of power in general. We, as humans, should have the right to feel safe and trust our government to protect us, no matter what ethnicity we are.

Q: Would society have the same “raging” response if Mike Brown were Asian?
