Stop Violence

Jessica Wong
Section 2
Week 5

Honestly, I could barely finish reading Darrell Hamamoto's article "Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence" because it was so disturbing. I had no idea that so many people had "acted upon violent fantasies of death that never quite live up to expectations"and it made me quite sick to my stomach.  The author linked these morbid occurrences with the experiences that veterans dealt with while fighting the cause in the Vietnam war.  I am not sure exactly if there is necessarily a casual effect between war and these violences, but I would agree that there is a correlation.  The article only focused on veterans who because violent after the war but did not touch upon those who have not committed crimes after returning home, Nowadays, the media has a way of desensitizing viewers to violence and sensationalizing it. Society has entered a downward spiral into the depths of violence and it is our job to help revive it. How have we allowed this situation to get so out of hand?
