Section 2
Week 2

Professor's Valverde's "Fight the Tower: A Call For Action for Women of Color in Academia" opened my eyes to the many challenges that females are facing, especially on a scholastic level. I had no idea the stresses that women of color had while trying to reach tenure and the life-threatening situations that could come with them.  In her case, as in many other cases and situations, women are afraid to speak up against authority in fear that they are crossing a line.  Professor Valverde's story was quite inspirational because it reminded me that our voices are one of our most powerful assets. As in much of history, people only gained satisfaction once they spoke up for their beliefs and made change happen.  A better future comes with determination and the will to fight for Though it may be more difficult for women to challenge the system, change must happen in order for anything to progress. Even though many are passionate about a cause, what withholds them from fighting?
