API Social Movements and Interest Groups
This article shows that despite many differences, like
political, customary, language, and religious backgrounds, the sub groups of
Asian Americans have between the groups, the groups stand strong together when
it comes to fighting for Asian American rights. In the past, Asian Americans
try surviving in the United States by grouping together and staying close to
their ethnic groups, they protect themselves through detaching themselves from
other groups. This caused change in social status in American especially slow
and sometimes ineffective. In recent years many Asian Americans, especially
younger generations, try to secure the social status of Asian Americans and
fight discriminations against Asian Americans through entering into the
political system and running for office. The question is, where do the mixed
Asian-white American ethnic groups stand in all this, how do they identify themselves, and how to they fight for their rights?
