Mary Grafilo
ASA 2 Section 2
Week 2
A Response to Fight the Tower
The beginning of her book starts off at such an unconscious desperate state. Although our professor never really wrote in a form that made it seem like she had no control, I can relate her experience to how I feel coming into this class. From what I've been learning it seems that I am unaware of the despair that surrounds us at UC Davis and as asian american students. When she described herself in the hospital I immediately related to her calm body, surrounded by chaos. I would not say there are ghosts, but every time I step out of that class I feel like I've been missing a chunk of information about my past and I will eventually find it by the end of the quarter and that to me, is exciting.
This question is not really for the professor but is instead for me, based on the reading:
I know you, Mary, recognize the injustice for women in academia. What will you do about it?
