After reading "Opening the Box: An International Asian Woman Scholar’s Fight" written by Akiko Takeyama, it's clear that international faculties face a lot of unequal treatment in their career life. Their language barrier is one of the most basic weakness that requires a lot more time hardworking than other teachers. The lack of guidance also wastes her time on publishing a book and results in some physical and mental pressure because of the possible rejection from the publisher. She becomes so anxious during that process. Is it because she is not confident enough? No, the reason is that society and the academic world don't provide an equal enough environment for all Asian Americas. They can't feel safe and try to revise their work times by times. It's not their fault. Generally speaking, the most serious problem the author faces in this article is the lack of information. She didn't know about a lot of things due, and nobody told her how to do and what to do. Thus, she always falls down or faces problems. Then she wants to seek help which is also a not easy thing for Asian Americas. It's important for them to voice out their needs, and try to get more equal treatment in the academic world to protect their work.
