Section 2
In the article, "What Asian Americans are Bringing to Campus Movements with Racial Justice", by Mark Tseng Putterman, we see the disconnect of Asians from the ongoing movements on campuses. Putterman begins his article with a situation where an Asian American was not allowed to cover protests. We see this a lot these days where Asian Americans are outcasted because they don't necessarily relate to either whites or blacks.
In my opinion, it is unfair that Asian Americans are unable to participate and support their peers based on their upbringings and roots. The views of others can be described as seeing Asian Americans as unfit to be apart of the movement because of their "whiteness". Often times we see that folks in the Asian American communities are trying to voice their opinions and help but their voices and opinions get lost. Asian Americans are seen as others, therefore we see very little representation of them among the protestors.
Richard Aoki was a member of the Black Panther Party, and was Asian American. How can we get more Asian Americans recognized in the fight for racial justice?
