2C Pre-Screening: Institutionalized Sponsored Student Programs

Group Members: Chouatong Mouvansou, Kevin Nguyen, Alex Truong

For our SAPSA we wanted to explore the effects of having the university sponsor/fund a student program and how that affects their programing and what they can accomplish.  We wanted to make this video for other student programs so they could see the effects of having an institution sponsor them.

For the most part our interviews are complete we just need to work on transitions and audios.

We would like to receive feedback on the content of the video. Is there any questions or clarifications that need to be addressed?

2C Pre-Screening: Institutionalized Sponsored Student Programs

Group 2C highlighted the effects of institutions sponsoring student programs through various interviews. I liked how the interviewees thoroughly described the effects of these programs and the effects of the university's funding. They also help to clarify common misconceptions.

An intro before each interviewee could be added to give clarification on what each interviewee was talking about. Throughout the first few minutes of the video I was a little confused about the specific acronyms that the interviewees talked about, such as "S.A.F.E." For editing and transitions, I would suggest cutting out a lot of "umms" and empty spaces to make it more streamlined, and since the volume of the interviewer is a bit lower, they should add subtitles for the questions being asked. I would also suggest adding on-screen text describing the person being interviewed. Some narration to help guide the transitions between interviews and drive the message of the video would also help keeping viewers from being lost. Other than that, I thought the volume of the interviewee was pretty comfortable to hear and I enjoyed watching the video.

Overall the group met their objective with the video content.

I appreciated the clarity that came with the video and their interviewees. It was very clear in the video that they were creating a safe space for the topics to be discussed. Knowing that they center their actions around specific initiatives makes it clear to the viewers that the school does indeed have intentions of being able to reach out in a proper manner. They were able to expose how the university's funding does indeed help the students in a way that will get them connected with their community and give them more opportunities for growth.

The video needs more clarity in terms of its organization. I believe that the interviewees were clear but there was more guidance needed in terms of what direction the video was going in, I wasn't too clear in what it's intentions were. Transitions were also needed, and more direction overall with the interview questions would be advised. Perhaps text on-screen would be beneficial to the video so that viewers would be aware of what was being asked. The video seems like it's good for an overall start, it just needs a little bit of sound editing in terms of cutting out the feedback so that everything is clearer. Overall, what I would like more from this is more of a story, but I do believe that this video's main strength is the information that it provides.

Feedback for 2C Institutionalized Sponsor Student Programs

I think that the uniqueness of the topic and the objective of it is one of the strengths of the project. I find that impact of funding for student programs are rarely discussed, while the funding itself is often publicized by universities to create a positive image for the universities themselves. Another strength of this video includes the interview subject who have a specific story to tell on their own. To further elaborate, I think that this group can get an interview with a person representing the university (UCD) to show their perspective. The interviews can also be grouped on the positives and the negative sides of the sponsorship to help viewers organize the ideas in the video. Along with the interviews, another aspect that the group can work on is to provide a brief introduction of the topic, since not everyone is aware of the importance of discussing the topic. In addition, providing more still shots and transitions between interviews will help make the video flow better. Last but not least, I think that it's important that the video ends with a cohesive conclusion can really show the main message that the SAPSA project is trying to present.

    Great video!
