Week 10 Yuzhe Zhang A01

Week 10 blog

Yuzhe Zhang, A01

In the age that information plays such an important role, the temptation of telling lies is growing extremely fast. Businessmen lies in exchange for greater profits; politicians lies for the trust of people; and the media lies to win people’s attention. A “culture” of lying is pervading our society. And there are part of people who lies, only because of their fear of power. To tell lies is to yield to the oppression of power.

So, as a result, as the article “Academics Awaken: Power, Resistance, and Being Woke” said, “movements are emerging to demand real substantial change that affects many people. These movements represent the purest form of the saying, ‘Speak truth to power’.” This article appealed to us that everyone shouldn’t be afraid to power. Justice will be done no matter no matter how late it comes.

As an ordinary person who has nothing with power or politics, It is also important to act straightly to uphold justice. One person’s power is insignificant, however, if billions of people in our world uphold justice together, I think lies and evil can be completely diminished.
