Yvonne Chen, ASA 02 A01, week 8

W.P. is such a good poet that I can always learn something new from his poems. "She Shall Not Be Moved" are filled with strong emotion and feelings. I can clearly feel his sadness, hopelessness, and loneliness. His poem emphasizes the circumstances he suffered from the outside world. Other people's ignorance despises, and vilification forces him into an even harder situation. He always tries to seek help from others and hopes that there could be support for him to insist on his action. Sometimes even we did nothing wrong on a certain problem; if other people all think we are wrong, and nobody tries to support us, we may start to doubt ourselves and can't help if we did something wrong. This is very harmful to our mental health because if you start to doubt yourself, your confidence will continuously disappear, and you would not like to believe yourself for other situations as well. Thus, it's very important for us to support him and help him build confidence in this kind of problem. As Asian Americas, a minority group, the author is even more lonely and repelling by other racial identities. We should speak out our opinions, all Asian Americas should be a whole unity and help each other. I have a question if any Americas did similar things as W.P., and if they have a different result?
