This week, I read “Care Work: The
Invisible Labor of Asian women" which is written by Wei Ming Dariotis and
Grace J.Yoo. This reading is very interesting that the author is trying to
mention the Asian status in the working position in the United States. Usually,
Asian women are often getting less support and help during the time they are in
college and working positions. They often work harder than the people who get
the same reward or received the same treatment. Also, they have less chance of
getting promote even they work harder than native people. This is a common
situation happened in the United States nowadays. The reason causing this is
bias and racism.
Normally,
native people cannot treat Asian people the same as others. The race difference
would cause many potential problems. Although everyone knows race
discrimination is not right, the difference in the color still makes people
apart from others. There is something in the deep heart that we cannot avoid.
As a result, many people would magnify these differences and treat them as race
discrimination. Also, there are some problem happened on Asian people as well.
For example, the stereotype which the professor mentioned in the class.
Sometime, trying new things or adapt to what native people did would help those
Asian people avoid too much discrimination.
