This week's reading material, "Opening the Box: An International Asian Woman Scholar's Fight." by Akiko Takeyama, states that international Asian women professors in university faced numerous problems that greatly influenced their research and university always treated them unfairly.

For International Asian women professor in university, the first challenge is students who do not respect them. Some students thought international Asian women professors should be tolerant in education, hence, they continuously break the rules such as plagiarizing in their papers. However, when international Asian women professors reported these types of misconduct to college, college will tend to suspect professors rather than asking students whether they had dishonest behaviors. Another challenge is language. Though international Asian women professors learn English for many years, their books cannot be published even if these books have been revised for several times since they cannot master English as perfect as local citizens. Finally, the biggest trouble for international Asian women professors is tenure review because this is not easy to pass, and university always treated international female professors more strictly than male professors.

In my opinion, students should obey academic conduct since this is what students should do in their academic study. No matter who is the professor, students should go to classes and finish their assignments on time honestly. Because academic misconduct will not influence the professor greatly but does no good to students. For language, I think that students can understand what international Asian women professors say and it is enough if they could communicate with each other. Moreover, when they want to publish researches, the university should assist them because English is their second language. It is better if there is any help from those who have editor experience. Only with such support could Asian women professors get their researches published easier and more professionally. The last one is tenure review. I think tenure review aims to check professor's work. If international Asian women professors received a majority positive vote of application and their work performance is in good standing, they should pass tenure review and get the official position. Because their work performance proves their superior abilities and a majority positive vote could indicate that they have been approved by others. For the picture under the content we can see that Asian women professor is less in university.
