In this week's reading, I read the article "Opening the Box". A Japanese professor described how his students used various methods to gain benefits for themselves in improper academic means. Although I have seen all kinds of strange methods and techniques in this article, such as using the parent's doctor position to write a case for myself, or asking others to help myself in class, etc. However, what really shocked me was that the professor actually attributed all this to his failure, which made me unacceptable. The task of the professor is to give the students knowledge and creative content. This is especially obvious in universities. In my opinion, students' moral issues and character shaping are the education they should experience in childhood. Obviously, it is their elementary school teachers and parents who should be held responsible, not professional university professors. The author's self-reflection and guilt are so ridiculous and sad to me, and a large part of it is, in my opinion, the habitual self-confidence and self-blame of Asians.

When I browsed the "Rate My Professor" website, I noticed that many Asian professors are labeled "docile" or "kind". Such a personality is indeed very easy for students to make inappropriate classroom behavior without hesitation, because teaching is a complementary process. I think that the professor himself needs to shape his majestic image. For example, they should try to avoid indecision, excessive tenderness, and other traditional Asian personalities. Instead, they should try to discover their own personalities, and thus influence their students to become more positive and creative.
