Victor Dionisio, Week 5 - AO1

These weeks readings were different but surprisingly interesting. Particularly, Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence by Darrell Hamamoto who explains various types of murders, from serial murders to mass murders. I was shocked at how many of the main points in these articles dealt with American Militarism murdering people, especially those of color. It’s ironic how throughout our education we are shown the good deeds of white men but in reality they are the ones who contribute to the barbarous acts that occur here in America and other countries as well. One of the murderers mentioned was Theodore Bundy also known as “Ted Bundy” who although was known for his horrible acts, was popularized more recently through social media targeted white female students between 1974 and 1978. The idea that most of the murderers were Caucasian, in the military, or both for that matter target people of color contributing to the violence in America is what distinguishes this country from many others. Another topic in this article that caught my eye was “A Few Good Men” which talked about the holocaust of 200,000 civilians and the colonization of the Philippines. It angers me that Americans not only took our land but in the process murdered thousands of innocent people.

Although this does not really pertain to the articles my question would be: "What steps can America
take to stop cops from killing people of color?" "Why not make a law that police must use a different
form of protection rather than firearms?"
