Week 8_Alexandra Tan_A01

It is interesting that Lee talks about the lack of conversation about sexuality in Asian religion in Teaching Justice and Living Peace: Body, Sexuality, and Religious Education in Asian American Communities. I think these kinds of discussions are important, especially in a time of growing tolerance, and it is important that we advocate for these discussions in our own communities. From my experience, Asian communities often choose to avoid discussions about sex or sexuality because it is a conversation they simply find to overbearing. Although I come from a very liberal minded family, I have seen others in the Asian community shunning homosexuality.
I think creating more discussion and awareness of what it means to be LGBTQ in Asian communities is extremely important, because Asian communities are still known for being unaccepting and not understanding. How can we convince Asian communities to start these discussions?
