In this week's reading, Stephanie Marohn’s “What a Shaman Sees in A Mental Hospital” surprised me the most. This reading was introducing how that the mental illness that we all process in our head is different in Shaman's minds. In Shaman's culture, having mental illness is something more special. When a Shaman sees a mentally disordered person, he/she sees a brave individual soul fighting against some other supernatural force. But in our world, we only see mental disorder as a illness, a bad thing, an abnormality. As a collage student, there are so many people around me that I know have much or less mental issues. And there's been cases that people with mental disorder being bullied and ended up to extremes. This is not right. In our world, abnormality is usually not taken; people who are "abnormal" are shut away from the crowd. And there are people who are taking the consequences of our society being sick instead of themselves. This world is supposed to be a loving place, not a place filled with hates against people. If there are people who need help, then there should be resources for them to fix the problem instead of them bearing with the problems.

Question: Why did professor Toupadakis (He taught chem 2 series) left? He was one of the professors I know that really cares about his students' mental health the most.
