Implications for Justice is the one interests me the most, and it is the one points out the bitter fact
we all live in- our country runs on profit, not value.
In this reading, the authors talked a lot about how the undocumented immigrants are criminalized letting the private sectors joining in the process of "punishing" immigrants. After decades of development, this detention
service starts to flourish and luring its owners to create a larger "market." As a communication student,
I understand perfectly how the US news industry is manipulated like a puppet for interest by the large corporations
and monopolies. Connecting with recent events, all the crime news relating to undocumented immigrants
are all put in the microscope of the public attention, while there are thousands of native criminals waiting for
their stories to be broadcast. And the undocumented immigrants are all pictured as suspicious smugglers
going across the border with no document at all. However, according to the latest data, the majority of the undocumented immigrants are just legally entered foreigner seeking for a better life with an expired visa. And the crime rate among this group is not as high as people expected. This image is only built due to the work of the private detention service owners seeking for more interests. And that is the part that scares me the most, they did it publically, and it worked.
