This week's reading "the criminalization of immigration and the privatization of the immigration detention: implications for justice" by Alissa R. Ackerman and Rich Firman explained how neoliberalism helped society shape a bad image, a criminal identity against the immigrants. A lot of private corporations seem to profit from immigration detention. Because of Neoliberalism, the companies were privatized and when people were focusing on the free market, they overlooked the suffering of minorities. Although the market is free, it's not fair for everyone in the game. Everyone was supposed to have equal rights but people in power used the stereotype people tend to have to shape a bad image of Asian Americans and profit from it. When the Government has less power in the market, minorities can easily lose their rights. That was basically what happened when big corporations taking over people's lives. The government should be more involved in an unmatured society.

Q: How can a society emphasize freedom (speech, trade) while protecting everyone's rights. Because free trade is good for the economy and social welfare as a whole and equal rights are necessary to the continued development.
