After reading the article "On Some College Campuses, A Focus On Asian American Mental Health" by Katherine Kam, I got lots of personal viewpoints. Nowadays, more and more Asian American teenagers are considers as "good students" by their parents and other people. Sometimes people ignore their hard-working and considering them as "talents students". Furthermore, Parents also give their stress by the study. For example, famous parents "Tiger Mother" send three of her daughters to Harvard and Yale University. In this case, "Tiger Mom" took charge of her daughters times and courses, and did not give their enough out-class activities times. They also lose their chance to watching TV and playing with friends when they were growing up. Even if they did not get some mental illness, lots of experts and other people disagree with these kind of high pressure education. Beside this, according to the author, Kam, many Asian American students got depressive disorder or other mental health because they also face the unusual sight from their classmates and other teenagers. The phenomenon is, other students also consider Asian students as "good at maths" or "good in grades". This also a problem for Asian students mental health. In conclusion, stereotype and pressure increased the rate of mental illness of Asian American students. Parents and students should overcome this problem by decreasing the stereotype of Asian students.
Q: How can we decrease the pressure and stereotype of Asian American Students?
