Week 3 blog
Yuzhe Zhang, A01
In this week’s article “Hmong Does Not Mean Free: The
Miseducation Of Hmong Americans”, PhD. Mouavangsou made an argument about the
Hmong students in America. He also made a comparison between Hmong male and
female students. He came to the conclusion that among those who study abroad,
Hmong female students do better than Hmong male students in the study.
In my opinion, female students always do better than male
students, whatever they are in primary school, middle school or college.
Here is a research made by Dr. Mousa Khaleel on the topic of
male and female students’ performance in study. From the above two charts we
can see that male students are more confident with their study, and they also
feel more enjoyable. I think these are not the only two reasons. In the class,
teachers tend to pay more attention to female students, especially in the middle
school or primary school. Because they are physically weaker, so they tend to
have less activities such as running, playing ball games or fighting. As a
result, they are more focused on reading or learning. That’s the reason why I
think female students would study better, no matter whether they are Hmong or
not.
