Nothing is White or Black.

Response to " I am a man with a heart" by Andrew Thi
Andrew Thi talks about his life being an immigrant and the choices he made in his life that got him where he was. He was a brilliant student, but he was a thief, a robber, a gambler, and a convict. He went to juvenile hall at a young age from stealing and as he got older the stealing lead to more crimes. After multiple counts of robberies and being caught with firearm, he was going to be deported back to Cambodia. Luckily he did not go back. This short autobiography was interesting because he was not a typical troublemaker. During school he was an honor student and went to Berkeley and yet he committed so many crimes. He dodged a bullet by having his deportation overturned. I do believe immigration laws on deportation can be very unfair, but in Thi's case I understand why he would be deported. After multiple run ins with the law and  being incarcerated, he did not stop committing crimes. It is as if he never learned his lesson. I do not believe a person should be deported from stealing clothes, but he have stolen so much more than just that. Yes, Andrew Thi is a "man with a heart", but does it take deportation for a change in heart? Is there a fine line between what crimes or how many crimes that should lead to deportation?
