It has been months that coronavirus has outbroken worldwide. China is the first place where has affected, but fortunately, the situation now is under control. However, America now is in an urgent situation.
In areas with severe epidemics in the United States, a lot of medical personnel have been infected or dead because of the influx of large amounts of patients and the lack of protective equipment. Due to a shortage of masks, an ICU nurse was told to use a disposable mask for 5 days. A California emergency room doctor said that her colleagues began to store used masks in plastic containers and used them again when they saw different patients.
The situation in New York is the worst. There aren’t enough hospital beds, and patients can only lie on the ground. The hospitals lack of almost everything -- masks, protective clothing, and goggles. Many medical staff use the same masks for a week.
Moreover, ventilator used to treat seriously ill patients also cannot meet the demand. A hospital in Manhattan, New York, has begun using one ventilator to treat multiple patients simultaneously.
The White House estimated on March 31 that even if under strict prevention and control, 100,000 to 240,000 people may still die of the coronavirus. The morgues in New York City and parts of New Jersey are already full, and some hospitals can only find refrigerated trucks to keep the patient's body.
