Jiyao Liu, A02, Week1

Now coronavirus has spread all over the world, and it has seriously affected people’s daily life. At first, it quickly spread in China, and many Chinese people were infected. At that time, people in China are required to stay at home, and governments tried their best to protect their residents. I was safe because I was in America at that time, but this virus gradually spread all around the world including America. New York is the state that has the most severe outbreak of COVID-19 because of the high population density. More and more citizens were infected in New York City, and hospitals have been overrun with patients suffering from COVID-19. Normally crowded streets are now empty. And Officials have appealed for volunteer healthcare workers.

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, my life was also affected. University changes to teach online, so I need to study at home for the whole quarter. many international students choose to go back to their countries, and they need to take some classes at midnight or early in the morning. Thus, there is no doubt that everyone is going through a tough time. However, I was disappointed by some news and comments on the Internet. Some people call coronavirus as “Chinese virus”, and some Chinese were even abused and beaten. Certainly, I believe that only few people would do these, but undeniably, there is still discrimination against Chinese. Thus, I really want to talk about how to reduce the prejudice against Asian, and I hope everyone stays healthy.
