Week 1 Blog
It was in January that I firstly heard of the pandemic disease -- “COVID-19” from the social media. Then I know it is highly infectious. Coronavirus can be transmitted by one’s contact with patients who have a cough as well as their respiratory droplets. Coronavirus is said to be found firstly in China, who carried out a set of measures to keep people in safe such as asking residents to stay at home and to wear masks and gloves when they have to go out. At that time, I also worried about my parents very much and told them to stay at home. It took China 3 months to get coronavirus contained after citizens all over the country make their effort. Now, China becomes safer than 3 months ago.
In March, the pandemic began to spread around the world. Korea, Iran, and Japan are the first three countries to fall into a critical situation, followed by United Stated, Italy, and German. The whole world is seriously concerned about coronavirus since over one million people has been infected. Our university also took numerous measures to keep students safe. The university had closed campus, canceled in-person final exam, and offered students with remote classes for the whole spring quarter. Now, all the students can have classes at home.
So far, the United Stated has more than 260,000 people who got infected, and the number increases very fast and new cases have been surging recently. Coronavirus is quite infective, so the government appeals people to quarantine and wash hands frequently. When people go outside, they should wear a mask and have social distancing. My parents also told me if you have symptom such as headache, cough, or fever, do not feel panic. Though there is no vaccine, we can defeat coronavirus by ourselves. We should sleep well, drink more water, eat more eggs and fruits to enhance our immunity. Then our immunity can help us to fight with coronavirus. To keep healthy is a good idea for people during this time.
If the government give people enough support like masks and food, and citizens follow the government’s instructions to do the quarantine, etc. the coronavirus will be defeated in the end.
For the course, I want to learn the history of the Asian American and their contributions for America.
