Week5 Bradley Kitaoka Section:A04

For this week I read the article titled, Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence, written by Darrell Hamamoto. In this article the author talks about how many killings that have happened in the United States can be linked to a certain ethnicity. Specifically, he talked about how many killers and rapist targeted Southeast Asians more than any other ethnicities. In all of the different murder stories he writes about the murder was either a soldier in the Vietnam War or knew somebody who was fighting in that war.  Because of their connection to the war this explained their reasoning for choosing Southeast Asians as their victims. Many victims were also held captive and used as sex slaves. This shows the idea of hypersexuality of Asian women and how these white serial killers wanted to dominate their captives as well as viewing them as objects to help with their sexual urges. This article also showed that over the years there has been a rise in murders, and that many of these murders have been white people targeting African-Americans and Asian women. This relates to the social hierarchy and how white people are targeting people who they think are inferior to themselves.

Question: Were other ethnicities targeted by serial killers after other wars too? (For example, Japanese and Germans after World War II)
