WEEK 7 Hanlu Xu ASA 002 A01

In the reading, "The Criminalization of Immigration and the Privatization of the Immigration Detention: Implications for Justice," authors indicated the trend, reasons and actions by government of illegal immigration. Actually, I don't really know and understand this situation because in my country, we don't have this problem on society. So, when I first know this crimination, it's from the US and it is one of the biggest criminations in the US. From reading, I can know this question seriously catches government attentions is from "911" event, and the US noticed this is a threat for the whole country. For nowadays, Trump is one of the radical presidents who figure out illegal immigration strictly. During voting, he stood for setup more rigid boundary between the US and Mexico, and hard punishment for illegal immigrants, Moreover, he limited international students, visitors and business partners. And today he gives the order that he declared national emergency and sign the border deal. I don't know how serious this event is as an outsider, but I can feel crimination of illegal immigration is a very serious problem in the US.
Back to our class, for me, from a superficial level, I think this is a result from historical roots. Since human had tool to travel and found different continents, they immigrated frequently to different countries. With the development, each country has their limit area and build law to regulate citizens and societies. Immigration is totally different, and it can cause significant threaten for one country.

Question:why does Trump take illegal immigration as more serious problem than pervious presidents?
