This week’s topic has to do with injustices. In Chapter twelve of Masters of War, titled “Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence”, Darrell Y. Hamamoto discusses intraspecies killing that results in violent human deaths. He gives brief descriptions and examples of different types of killers, including serial killers, mass murderers, snipers, race murderers, etc. He goes into harsh detail when describing the dark and twisted things that the killers do to their victims or how they choose them. For example, Ted Bundy, a famous serial killer who targeted and murdered somewhere between thirty to forty girls driven by his fascination with death. I found it disturbing how his process of finding, leading up to killing his victim, brought him joy and feelings of power. Some other things that I found disturbing were how people have violent fantasies of how they will kill people and how one murderer raped and disemboweled two of his victims so that he can eat them.
People like these are why the world is seen to be a scary place and it is not fair. There is so much more to this world than that, but often times, people are constantly in fear and are always needing to be aware of their surroundings because you never know what can happen.
Although there are many types of murderers or killers, this video shows a serial killer profiler’s chilling interview explaining what makes a serial killer after he had interviewed many serial killers. https://youtu.be/JbHg6U5DL0w
Question: Is there really any way to change the mindset of a murderer?
