This week’s reading is strongly connected to the main concept we have discussed in classes, which is about corporatization and imperialism under the educational system. There is no denying that both events in the reading “The Imperial University” and controversial lawsuits that the professor have talked play as a strong evidence to prove that universities being corrupted is more and more popular. Take my university, UC Davis, as an example, Pepper Spray Incident happened in 8 years ago was deadly influencing UC Davis’s reputation. It was a form of imperialism which showed that the staffs and the police did not respect students’ rights and dignity. In this case, UC Davis students were brave enough to fight against the authority. Hence, we can see that corporatization and imperialism are widely happening nowadays. But more people do not have courage to find out the truth and fight against the authority. In UC Riverside, the school used a SWAT team to arrest local protestors. From my points of view, I think the school did not use their power properly.
Question: How could students who fight against the authority have enough power to make it successful?
