According to “Beyond Tiger Mom Anxiety: Ethnic, Gender and General Generational Differences in Asian American College Access and Choice by OiYan Poon and Ajani Byrd,” hundreds of Asian American students surveyed to observe how Asian American students choose their colleges. According to these data, male students prefer to go to farther college, which means academic level and reputation are more important. On the other hand, female students tend to stay nearby their hometown than male students. Furthermore, parents affect more decision of female students’ choice rather than male students. Similarly, parents also want their daughter stay with them.
