Hamamoto's piece "Empire of Death and the Plague of Civil Violence" was a very dark and difficult piece for me to read. When Hamamoto wrote about all the stories of Asian women being raped and abused, it really hurt my heart to read it. To know that "my own people" went through such tragic things, it's heartbreaking. It wasn't the first time I have heard of stories like these, but reading one story after another about it was really hard. The writing and content was very powerful and informative. It is shocking to read how going to war has affected people. I think it is ironic that people go to war to serve our country, but when they come back, there is a good amount of damage that is done to our own people as well. It is interesting that white men were the dominate murders and attackers, even though they view themselves as the best and most powerful. I think that idea of them being the most powerful would feed into their desire to control and dominate other people, specifically Asian women. It makes me realize that there definitely are not enough resources to help veterans and their psychological mind so that they do not have to deal with PTSD, which affects everyone around them.
Question: Who/what is to blame for all these issues with veterans?
