ASA 2 Section 2
In "A Tale of Two Campuses: Berkeley and Davis respond to Occupy movements" by Alan Markow, it talks about the two "Occupy movements" that occurred in UC Davis and UC Berkeley. The article doesn't talk about what the Occupy movement is, but just like the one similar to the one about "Occupy Wall Street" the UC's occupy movement was protesting about the tuition hikes on the respective campuses. If you look into the back stories about the movements, each one was really chaotic in which police came to shut down each protest in a brutal way such as beating protesters with batons.
The article talks about the responses to the respective Occupy movements that happened. In UC Davis, they reported the damages that occurred during the protest and the finance of the protest cost UC Davis. In UC Berkeley, they talked about the the action that would be taken in response to the protest. The article then talks about why UC Davis comes off as deaf to the Occupy Movement while UC Berkeley doesn't mention the damage it might have caused the University or to the students themselves that got involved in the protest.
Below attached is an image that occurred during the Occupy Davis event. In the Davis incident the no mention of this event was not made publicized as this was when the pepper incident happened. It was all covered up and even though it was all covered up, no action was taken after all this affected the students deeply. As a student it questions my safety and the rights that a student has in the UC system and especially in Davis as this was an effort to shut down our voice and to cover themselves up to preserve there "reputation"
My question would be all the other cover ups in that occurred in Davis?
