Yidan Xu ASA 002 A04 Week 1

Due to the worldly invaded Coronavirus, people from many different countries got into a panic. 2020 is a really tough year and no one saw these coming before it happened. I was worried about my parents who were all the way in China at the beginning but now it is another way around. Every morning I woke up, I checked the news about how many more people got infected, how many more people died and what place's situation got worse. I have seen how vulnerable human beings are when we face natural and virus. But at the same time, news keep posting touching stories that happened on the medical front. There is always someone insisting and even gave life to save others. However, I also saw some chilling gestures that should not be happening at this particular moment. Some people have purchased masks or other protective equipment ahead time and sell to people at a way higher price when supplies are scarce. This virus also exposed the dark side of humanity in some ways.

When I started reading "Fight The Tower", it is basically about how Processor Valverde's literary career was full of discrimination and difficulty because of her race. It reminds me of Trump called Coronavirus "Chinese Virus". I know there are some people stand in the same position as him because they think this virus is from China. But I want to say that first of all, there was still not enough evidence to prove where and on whom this virus started. And secondly, as The New York Times mentioned, "this is ignoring a growing chorus of criticism that it is racist and anti-Chinese" which I really do not understand how can a president makes such a statement. I believed many of you have seen news like this online: Chinses students in many US Universities started wearing masks to protect themselves from accidental infections. But some local students were disgusted with such behaviors and even attack brutally which I might say is rude and impolite.
