Week 9 Tianxing Sun A02

This week, I have read the article “Barack Obama as the post-racial candidate for a post-racial America: perspectives from Asian America and Hawai’i” by Jonathan Okamura. This article talks about the political changes during the Obama government of “the end of the racial period”. But I don’t think Barack Obama push the improvement of reducing racial discrimination. I disagree with the idea that the author posted in the article (but not author’s own idea): as an Africa American, Barack Obama decrease the discrimination and increase the fares. According to one data from John Hopkins University, comparing to Bush’s government, Barack Obama’s government has not increase Asian or African American cabinet members. Furthermore, we can observe that Barack Obama, the first African American President of the United States, show limit impaction on reducing the racial assault and discrimination. In conclusion, I don’t believe Barack Obama’s “post racial period” theory.

Question: How could we reduce discrimination of racial?
