Asian Americans are currently the fastest growing immigrant population in the United States, and recent studies have shown that hate crimes committed against the Asian American population has been growing as well. This increase of victimization can be traced back to a history of racial stereotypes that portray the community to be weak, docile, and submissive, making them an easy target. Additionally, the contemporary political climate has vilified immigrant groups, furthering the perpetual foreigner stereotype onto the community. With our SAPSA, we hope to educate others on the increase of these hate crimes and provide support and resources for those victims.
