Week 10_Kenta Nishiyama_A03
From the reading, ""I choose to live for my people": On surviving, resisting, and thriving in Academia and Beyond", it empowers how Asian American has redefined the meaning of power and living for people. In the reading, there was a quote about how people have to sacrifice itself for allowing self-preservation to react in social justice. In order to pass the ideas to the next generation, an academic would be the key to prepare students and junior to learn those harsh reality. I felt it would reflect with our classes in our Asian American women studies, whereas learning the case of prof. Valverde has inspired and acknowledges the reality of the ethnics groups. The reading explains the meaning of " being awoke" as a realization of the world and triggered a new generation to liberate itself from the oppressed. I believe it does relate to other groups and ethics regardless of Asian American women, assuming how people protect themselves, avoiding those issues from others and ending up being self-damaging. I think it is key to strengthen our own existence and creates solidarity with others in order to adapt to our complex society. In the end, it will make privilege and links to social justice, helping to the next generation.
