this week I read "brack Obama as the post_racial candidate for a post-racial America." To this day I have never heard of anyone claiming that we have moved on from racism because we elected Obama to be president, unironically. And I feel like this isn't evidence for colorblindness either. Obama first ran when I was a very young and naive child and I didn't fully understand why people wanted to vote for him or anyone else but I remember several people told me that they wanted to elected because his was of color and wanted a different perspective, this is the opposite of colorblindness. Also, color blindness isn't necessarily a good thing, especially in our society where huge injustices have been done some groups of people. We also need to remember women, when will we elect a woman and will she be elected for merit or so we can have a cultural checkmark that says "we've had a woman president?"
Question of the week: was Obama elected president because he had significant better policies than his competitors or did his skin color play a role as well?
