As an international student trying to pursue a career in America, I understand how hard it is to get a degree, go to graduate school and to find a job. However, I never thought about how things are already so hard for Asian American women. In Caroline Valverde’s article Fight the Tower: A Call for Action for Women of Color in Academia, she addressed that diversity in the higher academia has changed a lot but still lacking and that Asian American women are treated with less attention and considered less significant in their workplace. I have always thought that nowadays Asian Americans might be more discriminated than African Americans since the awareness for no discrimination towards African Americans is well-know to the educated society. So people would be afraid of getting sued if they go against African Americans but not Asian Americans. This week we talked about races, and in my opinion by labeling races people are separated. And when there are groups, there will be “grades” given to the groups. I think this society is harsher for some colored racial and ethnic groups than to other ones. And in the case of Asian American women it’s even harder since it is inequality square root. As an Asian in America, even though I don’t relay by history, but I’d still relate by culture, language and blood. I think I want to know more about this topic.

Question: Is the study of colored people causing them to be treated even more differently from white people?
