I once watched a video on YouTube. The video talks about how
the form of education (on instructor and a bunch of students ) has remained unchanged
for thousands of years already. I was truly amazed when the speaker in the video
address that the essence of education is to inspire and encourage student to be
the best themselves, which means that education should ensure everyone be
diverse, who they are rather than make them all the same.
In the article The
Untold History of Modern U.S. Education: The Founding Fathers Lee starts
his topic by a quotation of Martin Luther King as a understatement to talk about
the current educational problems in USA: funds problems, educational stress for
both educators and students, and problems in the educational system. He mentions those great founders of modern US education and He talks
about the purposes of modern education and how it is formed and what still not quite good about it. He then talks
about the history of modern US education: what is included, how it evolved and what
were included. In the end he talked about the education for the future, the
education with the help of technology and customization, which is more helpful for
students.
I learned more about the history of the modern US education
by reading this article and come to understand that education should be a
vehicle to find truth and therefore is not supposed to be filled with biases or
event discrimination. And “Education for All” should be greatly encouraged and
policies like this would definitely beneficial for Asian American too.
Questions: What is history of US education for Asian American? How does Asian American get involved in the reform of education?
