"Fight the Tower"

Entries:
According to Professor Valverde's article "Fight the Tower: A Call to Action for Women of Color in Academia", it showed that she faced many unfair treatments in academia and how she fought against them. This article really encouraged Asian American women who faced the same situations to speak up and fight against. In today's society, Asian Americans are still isolated, and it connects to this article. In this article, Professor Valverde mentioned that when she was at UC Berkeley, she felt that she was not belonged to there. I had the similar experience as her when I was in high school. I moved to San Francisco from China when I was in 9 grade. My high school only had a few Asian Americans, many of them were whites and Latinos. I was isolated in that school, I did everything by myself for most of times, and I felt that I was not belonged to that place. I didn't know why I was isolated, but things were happened. From my experience and the article, I felt that Asian Americans are still the groups of being ignored. We still need to fight against it and let more people know things that the Asian Americans face now. Furthermore, we should let more Asian Americans speak out and get what they should get.

Question:
Why did Asian Americans face so many unequal treatments? What is the main cause?
