Week 6- Thuong Nguyen, A01

This week I read "Is WiFi In School Safe?" by Brian Spero and "WiFi in Schools" by Cindy Russell. I thought these two articles were quite interesting as I use WiFi pretty much every single day, but have never heard of EMF. We live in a very technologically based society due to pure efficiency. Access to a plethora of information is available at the touch of the internet. Furthermore, textbooks, newspapers, and research are increasingly digitized to advance ease of accessibility. And the result of this, the author lists symptoms of having headaches, and slow reactive behaviors. (Personally, after extend periods of internet use,  I tend to experience dullness of the mind, or initial dizziness.) I do not know the full truth behind EMF exposure symptoms. There seems to be a lack of research done on this issue (that I know of). This could be the result of an overbearing effort to advance technologically, and any company that produce finds against that cause may become overshadowed. The tech industry as well as corporations that deliver WiFi are extremely powerful and its hard for individuals to turn away from WiFi when it has already been integrated into our everyday lives. This makes me question if its ever possible for schools to turn away from all the benefits that wifi provides.

Question: Is it really possible to turn away from WiFi in a school environment when information are increasingly digitized in today's society? Does the benefits of efficiency outweigh the costs?
