Week 5- Deon Anthony A01

Week 5

In “Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence”, Darrel Y. Hamamoto was a very interesting read. Hamamoto first explains the different types of murder. Some include “Serial Murder”, “Mass Murder”, “Race Murder”, and so many more. Something that really opened my eyes was the connection of the US military to murder and how killing has now become normalized in today’s society. To be more transparent, there stands a very fine line to differentiate murder by criminals and murder by military. There is hardly any difference because in my eyes, murder is still murder. The difference is who it’s done by and this is the issue. The US tries to make it sound okay that a person was killed only because it was done by one from the military. There is no doubt that because of this allowance, so many other forms of violent acts have been occurring in our society. Some of these being rape, gun violence, etc.. And what’s even more disgusting is that many of these acts have been done by former military men themselves.
Question:
There are many cases of PTSD, but is the military and government doing anything to prevent former military violence?
