After have read the reading materials of professor Valverde's journals, I found that I was underestimated of the racial issues in the U.S. and the globe. Even though before I take this class I already realized the existing social issues in our world and there are countless injustice, stereotypes, and discriminations among the different races. However, after read professor Valverde's reading works I have found that the issues are more substantial and worthy more attentions. The story of professor Valverde is truly impressive, the hardship that she have been encountered was unimaginable. In the early life of her, for fighting for her tenure, she even encountered to losing two lives. Moreover, she was almost nearly could not be recovered. And there are miracles in medical was happened therefore she could able to be recovered and going back to academia. The path of backing to academic is also very hard. Even after she backed to the research institution, there are tons of unfairness and discrimination. These racism are obstacle of people's happiness and they are nonsense. The malevolence can only be obstacle for people to do meaningful things. I found that we are having the duty to fight for justice for all, this would make improvements for the society. The fight for justice for Asian people are very meaningful are they are respectable.s
I can also feel there are a lot of injustice in academia. One of the most severe injustice and discrimination is when institutions get new students. The asian people need to perform much better in order to get higher level institutions. I'm wondering is this phenomena would continue going on? or are we going to find out some solution for it?
