The influence on Korean Americans

Ka Pou Sin
Blog Entry for Week 8

From the article, “Korean American Youth and Transnational Flows of Popular Culture across the Pacific”, Jun-Sun Park says that the Korean American is slowly increasing. Not only, the increasing of Koreans becoming Americans, but also their culture. The influence of the Korean pop culture is increasing. It is very surprising to hear that people knew the music groups in South Korean back at her time, but in the present days, it is world-wide known. For example, Psy’s Gangnam Style is highly known and everyone loves it. The song plays in radio stations and repetitively on the television. I read on the news on time that Psy’s income has increased tremendously due to world-wide invitations for his performance there. Usually, American singers or performers are well known and invited; however, slowly Korean music is taking over. The increased amount of people knowing South Korea can help increase Globalization. The connection in between the different countries will increase and the economy standing of countries in Globalization will increase, which makes the whole world better off. So not only does the Korean pop culture help South Korea to be well known, it also encourages Globalization and influences the world to become better off.
