I think it was interesting how Andrew’s bad habits and
criminal behavior propped up mainly because of the fact that he either did not
feel challenged enough in school or in academics or because he was not
preoccupied with extracurricular activities, such as after school programs and
sports. Andrew’s life and decisions are a shining example of why after school
programs, activities, and advanced classes are important in today’s society.
They help with troubled kids such as Andrew by keeping them preoccupied and
make kids feel challenged in order to make them focus more on school and other
things. These programs and classes help divert kids from trying reckless activities
and getting into trouble. As shown in Andrew’s life, the only real reason as to
why Andrew felt like he needed to adopt a criminal lifestyle was because he was
either bored with everyday school life or because he felt he wasn’t challenged
enough in life. How can the government implement more after school programs and
advanced classes in order to help troubled youths such as Andrew?
