Am I Turncoat, Then?

USA Patriot Act: A Sketch
ASA2 SEC2

The USA Patriot Act does not seem to be a very nice law, especially to the foreigners in the US. It was enacted after the 911 to prevent terrorism by broadening the governmental authority and allowed the government to intercept communications of citizens and non-citizens. The impact of the act was especially large on non-citizens; they could be deported for any reasons and the burden of proof is on them in the lawsuit. Although I am concern of governmental control on people going too far, considering that the communications of the terrorist group was foreign language, for some part it is understandable how the some of the consensus and government want more strict control over citizen, especially those who are non white.  Another thing I noticed about the Patriot Act can sound like it is trying to guide people to create an image of USA vs foreigner. I remember after 911 the US government stated the war against the terrorisms and the some people were cheering up their patriotic mind. The atmosphere would make it harder for people to speak up and correct the act whose name include “patriot”. In addition, its name, patriot act, gives people an image of patriots vs traitors. This may draw the line between patriots and those who are not, and what this division would create is another division of US citizen vs immigrant.

Q: is USA Patriot act necessary to prevent the terrorism? is there an alternative method?
