According to API Census 2010, there are 17.3 million U.S residents of Asian decent in the United States, which comprised 5.6 percent of the total population. Also, from 2000 to 2010, 46 percent growth of the Asian increased. In this way, it is obvious that Asian group has become an essential part of U.S society and cultural life. California has the largest Asian population and also Chinese American group is the largest group among several Asian groups such as Koreans, Japanese etc. As an international student coming from China, it was surprised me that many friends I met in Davis can speak Chinese, including mandarin and Cantonese, very fluently even they were born in America. Therefore, I think Asian cultures including languages makes United States a diverse society. This diversity is somewhat unique in the world, which is one reason that attracts me to study here. What factors would result in different Asian groups have greatly different household income?
