Response to: Nothing is More Important than Thinking Dialectically
This reading deals with social change and how
past practices will not work in the present or future. Thinking dialectically
means understanding that you cannot build movements in the same fashion now as
you did in the past. Now, in order to see change, they must be more two-sided
with the people and government working together. There is also a large stress
on education. This reading shows that schooling can change the way someone
comprehends and reacts to a situation. With an education system that is heavily
based on community and social responsibility, the students will be able to grow
and become citizens with a positive impact on society. I think this new type of movement and
education system is really interesting and will work because change is a give
and take. Also, starting with children and teaching them important concepts at
a young age will help when they become the ones making the reforms. My question
is though, how will these education systems be implemented. It must be
difficult to change a school’s entire foundation with the support of all so how
will they switch to this structure if the districts are unwilling to accept
them?
