Reading: "Nothing Is More Important than Thinking Dialectically" by Grace Lee Boggs
In "Nothing Is More Important than Thinking Dialectically," Grace Lee Boggs proposes the idea of reconstructing the identity of the oppressed in order to gain a better position in the battle against the institution. In general I agree with Boggs that the oppressed should stop seeing themselves inferior to the institution. Instead, they should see themselves as "pioneers in creating new and more human relationships that advance the evolution of the human race (Boggs 3)." According to Boggs, in order for such transformation, the following actions should be taken: forming a "horizontal politics of alliance" and developing the practice of "community-based, socially responsible education" (Boggs 5). For those who who are oppressed, it is important to keep in mind that while demanding progress on one hand, one should recognize the "progress" within progress, that is the basics of progress itself is ever changing.
Question: Is it possible that, when one keep progressing, he loses track of what is the fundamental value that he originally holds on to?
