Toby Lee Section A03 Week 6
The article that I read and found most interesting that I would like to discuss about is “Is Wifi in School Safe” written by Brian Spero. What interested me the most about this article is the fact that Wifi in school is actually extremely harmful for one’s health. If put into perspective the wifi signals in school are stronger than the ones in home and can go through cement walls at a much larger radius. We are also introduced to the new term EMF radiation that encompasses all radiation by cellular/electronic devices. So, is Wifi safe? Can we not have wifi in UC Davis? That is not plausible. Even if we have found out that Wifi is quite harmful for our health, what is it that we can do? Students need wifi in order to do their school work such as researching. Students also need to stay connected to the web to receive news information outside of the the campus. What happens if there is an emergency happening near Davis and students are not aware of it because we have taken away wifi? Although I understand that wifi may be harmful but I do not recommend taking it away. I believe the better approach is to find ways to decrease the EMF radiation damage.
